By Sophocles

Oedipus at Colonus is a tragedy by Sophocles, first produced in 401 BC. The play tells the story of Oedipus, the former king of Thebes, who has been exiled from his city after killing his father and marrying his mother. Oedipus wanders for many years, accompanied by his daughter Antigone, and finally arrives at Colonus, a village near Athens. Here, he is given refuge by the king, Theseus, and dies a peaceful death.

Oedipus at Colonus is a powerful and moving play that explores the themes of suffering, redemption, and the nature of justice. The play is also notable for its beautiful poetry and its insights into the human condition.
